Mac mini will arrive based on the x86-platform and using Intel’s processors next year. But already you can get Mac mini-clones which for obvious reasons are based on the x86-platform. VoodooPC which is known for its exclusive computers has recently launched Voodoo IDOL Mini which is very similar to Apple’s mini but instead for PowerPC and Mac OS X it is based on Pentium M and Windows. With its minimal formfactor it a great alternative for the living room or any other place with little space to spare.
Voodoo IDOL Mini is without a doubt more powerful than Mac mini and even if the capabilities for expansion are limited by the size you can do some, such as bigger harddrive and similar. The price is as ordinary nothing for the consumer worried about the actual value and those who have complained about Apple Mac mini costing too much should perhaps rethink as Voodoo Idol mini starts at 1000 USD.
