Windows Media Player 11 will be one of the big updates in Windows Vista and will offer loads of optimizations and new functions. Considering Vista’s delayed launch date it’s nice to hear that a version of WMP11 is on the move for Windows XP and Microsoft is ready to launch it before the end of June. That the WinXP version of WMP11 won’t contain all of the functions that the Vista version will is no surprise and it is not yet certain what functions Microsoft will include in it’s June launch. There are a lot to chose from, everything from better handling of large music libraries, better synchronization with portable units to the integrations of Urge, an online-based music service for those who wants to buy or subscribe to downloadable music.

Urge is one of the parts that has been set for the Windows XP launch of WMP11, a service that Microsoft has developed together with MTV to compete with Apple’s iTunes Music Store.
