Toshiba has now decided to follow in Dell’s footsteps and broaden is assortment of PCs by buying processors from AMD, as it has been relying solely on Intel’s platform until now. According to Toshiba, 20 percent of its laptops in the USA and Europe will be equipped with AMD processors, a quite significant amount as Toshiba is the world’s fourth largest laptop manufacturer. Even if the Dell alliance is still AMD’s biggest achievement on the OEM market, the new deal with Toshiba isn’t far from it. Toshiba is expected to use AMD’s processors with systems that will appear during the summer. These will be budget and low-end computers for both retail and business channels.
