At Penstarsys they’ve published an article which discusses how GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB was developed and why. With a lot of confirmed background information and some rumours they have created a very interesting article which simply concludes that NVIDIA simply has taken advantage of ATI’s problems with R520. Some very interesting reading for those how wants to know the ”truth” behind NVIDIA’s new flagship. ”The introduction of the 512 MB 7800 GTX is another success for NVIDIA in a year that has proven them dominant in the market. Do not expect NVIDIA to have such an easy time next year though. While ATI may have floundered with the R520 and RV530, the R580 and its midrange/budget derivatives are well on their way to the market.”GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB may look like a quick responce to ATI’s Radeon X1800 XT, but the fact is that it is a product NVIDIA more or less just have been waiting for to relase. A lot of rumours have been going around regarding NVIDIA’s graphic card since we first heard of G70 and R520. GeForce 7800 Ultra was mentioned early and the reason was that NVIDIA was actually planning this card. It was afraid of ATI and R520, but now that ATI ran into problems with a transistor it had to delay the launch of R520 NVIDIA could lean back and establish its new 7800 series while keeping its ace at hand.
