Sony has during CES presented an OLED TV prototype which makes one ponder about what future flatscreen TVs will be like. Instead of hunting milliseconds Sony has chosen to focus on what we, and most others, are most interested in today. In short, a more natural picture where the focus is on color preproduction. Sony’s OLED-TV namely has a contrast ratio at incredible 1,000,000:1, which can be compared to most other LCD TVs on the market that has a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Plasma TVs and some really fresh LCD TVs can reach up to 10 000:1 contrast ratios, but its nothing when compared to Sony’s OLED model.

Sony claims that the TV covers 100% of the gamut and the 27″ model it has presented at CES has a resolution at 1920×1080 pixels, full HD resolution.

Unfortunately, Sony’s OLED TV will not be launched anytime soon, but we’re really looking forward seeing how the flatscreen TV market will develop in 2007.
