Logitech has been making headphones for some time now, but they have all been niched for use with a computer. Apparently, Logitech decided that maybe it should give the other genres a try, for example ear and in-ear headphones. Therefor it decided to acquire headphone makers Ultimate Ears, which has been working exclusively with small ear phones for portable devices, like MP3 players and cell phones.

Ultimate Ears was founded in 1995 with the idea of supplying rock musicians with convenient ear phones that would work on stage. The concept fanned out well since they estimate that up to 75% of today’s rock musicians on tour use Ultimate Ear’s tailor-made ear phones when on stage. A few years back they decided to use its patented technology to expand its series of ear phones to target audiophiles and music enthusiasts as well.

Logitech has now acquired the respected manufacturer for $34 million in cash and expanded its assortment of audio products. More information about Ultimate Ears and its products can be found over at the official website, which now carries the Logitech logo.
