Our Swedish overclocking guru Marcus ”Kinc” Hultin submitted a new score to the 3DMark06 category in this year’s Performance Championship and the score 23,343 3DMarks was mighty impressive. This result is still the highest registered, but Kinc continued with his benching even after that the verification camera was turned off. The final score was 23,777 3DMarks which also was a new world record in 3DMark06. The record only stood for a few hours as Kingpin then submitted a new result, this time 24,011 points. But there’s no doubt that the results in the 3DMark06 category in SCPC2006 is world class.

Kinc seems to have found a real monster of a processor as the Core 2 Extreme QX6700 processor he used during the world record session was running at 4.92GHz and was later pushed to over 5.0GHz for a complete 3DMark06 run. To our knowledge it’s the first time anyone runs Intel’s quad-core processor at over 5.0GHz through an entire 3DMark06 run. The graphics cards wasn’t quite as overclocked as during the world record session, which should mean that there is more to get. We’re looking forward to the last and most exciting week of SCPC2006 and from what it seems there will have to be something really extraordinary to take home the 3DMark06 category.
