Nintendo announced that DVD playback would not be possible with the Wii long before the launch of the console. The reason was simply to reduce cost and final price of the console. Well now Team Symbiote has now launched a homebrew DVD player for the Wii. The approach only works with modded Wiis and is a bit tricky. You first need a Wii with YAOSM 1.8 installed, and then burn the DVD application on a CD. You boot the Wii with the CD and then swap it for a DVD movie. You can then use your Wiimote for in-movie controls. You can download the DVD player from MaxConsole,net.
