GeCube FZ Cool Radeon 1950PRO could have been just any X1950 Pro card if it weren’t for its special cooling. If you thought PowerColor were doing something extra with its Radeon X1950 Pro with an air cooler from Arctic Coolning it’s nothing compared to what GeCube has done. It has namely equipped the card with a peltier cooler, from factory. TEC (Thermo Electric Cooling) was a very popular cooling technology a few years back as compressor and phase change cooling was still something forreign. With a peltier element beneath the cooler you could reach considerably lower temperatures than with regular air or water cooling.

But now GeCube has once again chosen to use the TEC technology and fitted its X1950 Pro graphics with it. To be handle the extreme heat coming from a TEC element it has developed a somewhat overdimensioned air cooler with heatpipes and two 80mm fans, which are suppose to be very quiet though. The result is a cooling that allows users to overclock the card a lot while keeping it at acceptable temperatures.

”TEC’s superior cooling performance means that even when the FZ Cool is overclocked to the highest limitation, by 20% the temperature remains within the optimum 60°C ~65°C range providing the high ASIC life cycle in overclocked status. The FZ Cool also stands out in 3D Mark 05/06 benchmarks by outperforming standard versions by 15% and returning the best scores as well.”

Unfortunately there is no information about whether the card is overclocked from factory nor how many of these that will be made. It seems to be a limited edition though and we’re eager to see what the price will be.
