Apple has finally released its enticipated Intel laptop: MacBook Pro. In the true spirit of Apple it was launched as the highlight of Steve Jobs’ keynote speech during CES and what began last year with the decision to move on to Intel’s power efficient processors has finally started to gain some momentum. MacBook Pro will be available in two different versions with two different processors; Intel Duo Core at 1.67 or 1.83GHz, which of the three versions of Duo Core we’re talking about our information doesn’t say. The slower version will only be equipped with 512MB 533MHz DDR2, while the faster gets access to 1 GB.

Both the computers are equipped with ATI’s new graphic circuit X1600 Mobile, which perhaps can change the fact that Apple’s computers has never been seen as an option for the gamer, not even the casual such but then again this hasn’t been because of the graphic circuit completely to be honest. The harddrive capacity varies a little between the two; the slower has to suffice with 80GB while the faster gets a capacity of 100GB.

Other than that the computer comes with what you would expect from a modern laptop: 54mbit wireless network, Bluetooth, DVD-burner, etc. It also comes with optical minijacks, both in and out, and we should not forget the small camera integrated on top of the display. Alas Apple has for some strange reason chosen to leave out the expected battery time.

Considering all this Apple claims that the new laptop will be about 4 times faster than the G4, which perhaps isn’t all that surprising considering the age of the latter and the time and energy Intel has put into the first. Perhaps a bit doubtful marketing from a certain point of view, but not a lie nonetheless.

The design si on the other hand hardly something you can complain about. Measuring (HxWxD) 2.59×35.7×24.3cm it is most likely the smallest laptop with a 15.4″ display that has been made. The pretty low weight for such a large computer is pretty impressive as well; 2.54kg (varies depending on the configuration), but above all that they have managed to create a really nice looking shell for it:

We round off with the perhaps most innovative news with this laptop, namely the power adapter. It may sound a bit weird but the thing is that Apple has managed to come up with a really convenient solution where the adapter is attached with a magnet to the computer instead of an ugly jack.

The price will be $1999 for the slower version and $2499 for the faster one.
