AMD showed bits of what it has coming during the Global Technology Conference, and one of them was the first picture of an octo-core Bulldozer processor. Orochi is made with 32nm technology and should arrive in the latter half of 2011.

Last month we got more details on AMD’s Bulldozer architecture and found out that there will processors with 2 up to 8 cores. The Orochi circuit AMD presented at GTC was the high-end model with eight cores, made with GlobalFoundries 32-nanometer High-k Metal Gate technology.

Orochi comes with an integrated DDR3 memory controller and HyperTransport 3.1. It will also require a new socket for optimal performance, and even if Bulldozer is part of AMD Vision and will get an integrated graphics core this is not the case with Orochi. As an enthusiast model the focus is on CPU performance and it has plenty of cache and presumably high clock frequencies.
