NVIDIA has been slipping behind in the now famous DirectX 11 race since the launch last fall and the rumors have been endless ever since. Doomsday prophets have deemed the architecture beyond rescue, while others claim the GeForce GTX 400 series will make the world a better place with less wars, more drinking water and a cure for cancer.

The truth is somewhere in between , since today is the launch day of NVIDIA’s GF100 architecture – GeForce Fermi. Naming a circuit that has been delayed for so many months after a long deceased physicist is perhaps a bit amusing, but the fact remains it looks promising on paper. The question is if the boat has sailed, or if there is still room for the chips. Let’s see what it is all about.
