File compression is perhaps not as hot as it was a couple of years ago when Internet connections were anything but fast. But still the size of the data increases continously as we expand the storage capacity and increase the transfer rates. Simply, there is still great need for file compression technologies and one of the most popular programs used today is without a doubt WinRAR. At Gomeler the decided to compare WinRAR to another well known file compression program, namely 7-zip. 7-zip has received some great reviews and is completely free of charge, which WinRAR is not, but according to Gomeler’s tester it seems that WinRAR still has a small advantage on the compression.
