Reuters picked up a quote by Microsoft chairman and founder Bill Gates at the start of month, saying that Windows 7 will start shipping next year already. Microsoft has now corrected this statement, saying that Windows 7, code-named Blackcomb, is not slated for 2009, but the year after. Before Gates’ statement it was believed that Windows 7 would ship in 2010, and it caused quite a riot when it all of a sudden seemed like Microsoft would be able to deliver a product not only on time, but ahead of schedule. Unfortunately, it turned out to be false.
