Wacom is known for its interactive pen tablets that has helped everyone from sketch artists to architects into the digital world. Now that it has launched its latest product it tries to tie the analog and digital world together. Wacom Inkling lets you sketch with a pen on regular paper, and store it in a digital format.

Wacom Inkling consists of a specially designed pen that besides drawing with ink also reads your motions digitally. The pens supports 1024 different pressure levels for natural lines and together with the bundled receiver it can store houndreds of drawings before you need to connect the receiver to a computer and convert the drawings into digital graphicsk – in all from raster format to vector graphics.

The digital pen is used in combination with the Inkling receiver that is attached to the paper you draw on. Activate the receiver and make sure you have free sight and just draw. It can even create layers in the drawings through a simple press of a button on the receiver, which simplifies the conversion to digital formats.

Wacom Inkling looks like an exciting solution for those who still prefer drawing on paper, but at the same time wants the freedom to edit digitally. Exactly who it works we don’t know, but those who feel the urge try Wacom Inkling will launch in October costing around 160€.
