ULi M1697 is the latest chipset from ALi’s daughter company ULi and on paper it looks like a high value chipset for AMD’s K8 platform. The differences from the M1695 chipset ULi uses today is among other a high quality sound circuit (HD Azalia 7.1) and a SATA II 3Gbps harddrive controller with support for NCQ. at OC Workshop they’ve taken a closer look at ULi’s reference board of the M1697 chipset and except for good performance the board displays some really impressive overclocking potential by reaching 400MHz processor bus. ULi M1697 will be launched officially on December 6 and several motherboard manufacturers have already began deveoping motherboards with this chipset.
