Toshiba MK4007GAL 1.8″ HDD will be available with up to 80GB of storage, consisting out of two 40GB discs. To reach this capacity on such a small surface it has used perpendicular magnetic recording which we’ve talked about quite a lot here at NH. The technology makes it possible to reach whole new levels of density of data which will show expecially when it comes to portable multimedia devices as np3-players such as Toshiba’s own MP3-player Gigabeat F41 which already uses the same harddrive, but only the smaller version with 40GB.
