Toshiba HD-A20 is the third HD DVD player from Toshiba to arrive and the new model is suppose to fill the gap between the two previous models; HD-A2 and HD-XA2. Toshiba’s new player has now been sighted in American stores and costs 499 USD. HD-A20 offers a few things the cheaper sibling HD-A2 lacks, among others HDMI 1.3 and 1080p. At the same time the player lack some functions big brother HD-AX2 has, for example the RS-232 port and deep color support. Even if the Blu-ray camp often brag about the number of sold movies it’s the HD DVD camp that is selling the most stationary players. Blu-ray has the PlayStation 3 console as its trump, but it will have to broaden its assortment of players to match HD DVD.
