Most of our readers own at least one or more portable units; mobile phone, digital camera, laptop or perhaps an MP3 player. If we look back a lot has happened over the last couple of years; new and more advanced functions have been integrated into our portable units. At CoolTechZone they’ve published a column about something that seems to have been forgotten though, namely the poor battery time most portable units suffer from. We are quite used to being limited by a couple of hours, but that 3-4h with a laptop is considered to be rather good is hardly impressive. They have a strong point here as the battery is really something that needs to be dealt with, but as the number of functions and features increase so does the power consumption.

HP has earlier announced new batteries that is suppose to last 10h but this hardly feels like an upper limit. Better batteries and more power efficient units are something most people want, but the question is how much we will have to sacrifce to get there.
