Patriot has launched a new series of SSDs called Torqx TRB, based on the JMF616 controller from JMicron. The company received a lot of critique for its first controller circuit, but has come up with some very competitive solutions lately, we hope this includes JMF616.

Patriot Torqx TRB was launched with relatively small capacities, 32GB and 64GB, but the performance numbers for at least the read speeds of the series where promising. The drives will reach read speeds of 260 MB/s and 245 MB/s rsepectively, while writing will be slightly slower, 115 MB/s and 60 MB/s.

”Our Torqx TRB family of SSDs meet these goals. Users upgrading with a Torqx TRB SSD will benefit from improved transfer rates, quicker boot times and the reliability of solid-state storage in their boot drive option. Including a Torqx SSD in your desktop or notebook upgrade plans provides one of the best bang-for-the buck improvements you can make to your system.”

JMicron looks to be winning our trust back since the problems with the first generation SSDs.
