Hitachi-owned G-Technology has revealed information on an updated family of products that all have two things in common. All eight use Hitachi’s new 7200 RPM drives with 3 TB capacity, and they can connect to systems through Intel’s high-speed interface Thunderbolt.

G-Technology focuses on the high-end users with its storage solutions for video rendering and other heavy tasks where not only capacity but also speed is important. The company already has solutions for most budgets, with simpler entry level models sporting a single drive up to racks with 48TB capacity.

”Committed to delivering reliable, high-performance storage solutions to the A/V market, G-Technology is showing its support for Thunderbolt at NAB. Developed by Intel and brought to market with collaboration from Apple, Thunderbolt is more than just another high-speed cable.”

G-Technology has also confirmed that it will roll out new storage units that will use Intel’s Thunderbolt interface where it will use dual data channels at 10 gigabit per sekund each, especially in system where it uses different kinds of RAID configurations.

The new solutions will be shown by G-Technology at NAB 2011.
