Futuremark is planning to launch the latest version of the popular test suit 3DMark later this year, but the first public preview has now been published. 3DMark 11 is the name and as expected it uses Microsoft’s DirectX 11 API with both tessellation depth blur.

Futuremark focuses on what it calls High Temple in this preview. The 3DMark 11 engine uses several heavy DirectX 11 effects, including tessellation, depth blur and volumetric lighting to create realistic effects.

”The High Temple tech demo showcases the amazing real-time graphics that are possible today using readily available DirectX 11 hardware,” säger Jukka Mäkinen, Futuremarks vd, ”With 3DMark 11 releasing later this year and an ever increasing number of games using DirectX 11 there is a lot to look forward to for PC gamers.”

More information on 3Dmark 11 and screenshots can be found at Futuremark’s website. During BlizzCon 2010 in Anaheim the developer will show the High Temple demo for visitors and confirms that the free version will contain advertizing to cover development costs.
