MacBook Pro has an interesting feature in the form of an integrated motino sensor, which protects the computers harddrive from drops and hits. Clever users have realized that the motion sensor could be used for so much more than just protection and one of the most obvious uses is of course to turn your MacBook into a lightsaber á Star Wars. It simply works so that a software plays back lighsaber sound effects when the motion sensor detects movement. The only thing you have to do is to install the software and start swinging your MacBook around. This use is perhaps not the best way to improve the working environment, but now Tech Report reports that an actually useful software for MacBook’s motion sensor has surfaced, SmackBook.

A user got fed up with having to switch virtual desktops through key commands with his MacBook and instead he programmed an application that makes it possible to slap the computer to change desktop. A hit on the side of the display and the computer jumps to the next desktop. They’ve also published a demo video and it actually seems to be a convenient solution. How this will affect the health of the computers is something left unsaid.
