Sempron is AMD’s low end-series for the K8-arcitecture. Sempron has not inherited all the feature available with the K8-arcitecture and a vital part that is missing is the support for 64-bit code. Now when AMD launches the Sempron-core Palermo 64-bit support is on of the news. Just as with the earlier 90nm cores for the Athlon 64-series they have tuned the integrated memory controller and added SSE3-support.
