Sapphire is one of AMD’s closest partners and has now rolled out another card from the Radeon family. Sapphire HD 6850 Vapor-X Edition sports AMD’s popular Barts GPU with 960 stream processors overclocked from factory. Besides higher frequencies it offers a more efficient cooler and support for Eyefinity with up to 4 monitors.
Sapphire has made sure the new mid-range card comes well equipped for demanding users. The first sign is the custom cooler Vapor-X that covers two expansion slots and use big heatpipes and a big fan. It has 10 phase power supply with second generation Black Diamond coils that are well suited for overclockers.
The card fcomes with numerous video outputs that includes two DVI inputs, a single HDMI and two mini-DisplayPort outputs to support loads of monitors. You can connect up to four monitors in SLS Eyefinity, but with DisplayPort 1.2 the graphics card also support serial connection of displays. Sapphire ships the card with several cables, including a HDMI cable and a Mini-DP-to-DP adapter.
The card ships with a GPU clock frequency of 800 MHz and 1GB GDDR5 clocked at 4400 MHz (775/4000 MHz is the reference). These frequencies can be raised additionaly through the overclocking software TriXX that can be found on the manufacturer website. In the package there is also a download code for the car game DiRT 3.
The rpice will be somewhere around 150€.
