Samsung’s series of external harddrives, called STORY, has now been launched in a faster USB 3.0 version. The new Samsung STORY Station 3.0 now offers theoretical speeds of up to impressive 5Gbps. The case has room for a 3.5″ harddrive which of course won’t be able to take full advantage of the new interface. However there is supposed to be a significant speed difference between the new USB 3.0 model and its predecessor which used USB 2.0.
Samsung STORY Station 3.0 is shipped with drives ranging from 1TB to 2TB and comes bundled special software supporting automatic backups, data encryption and password protection.
The Samsung STORY series comes with a 3 year warranty and pricing is expected to be a little higher than the manufacturers USB 2.0 models.
