RAMBUS made a name when Intel decided to use it memories at the launch of Pentium 4. Unfortunately it turned out to be a less than clever move, but RAMBUS stuck around and is today behind both XDR and FlexIO, which makes up the internal communication of Playstation 3. RAMBUS has now released the figures for the fourth quarter of 2006 and they are the least to say positive. A revenue at 51.7 million dollar is an increase of 24%, compared to the year before, which also reflects the income for all year at 194.2 million dollar, (also) an increase of 24%. The reason for the positive figures is simply the lucrative licensing deals signed the year before, above all for XDR.
