Madshrimps answered to the question that was asked in our forums: What’s the difference between an array with 8 MB cache HD’s or 2 MB cache? To test this, they used Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 drives, 120 GB each, featuring either 2 or 8 MB cache. Hooked to a Qtek PCI RAID card (silicon image controller), they tested it using no RAID, software RAID, RAID 0 with different stripe sizes, and RAID 1.
