Radeon X1950 XTX will with its new cooler and GDDR4 memory be a really nice flagship for ATI when the card appears on the market. We recently reported about the card’s new cooler, but back then we had no concrete information about what frequencies the card would use. Now further information has appeared as HKEPC has published product sheets for both X1950 XTX and X1950 Pro. The XTX model will use 48 shader processors (16 pipelines) and work at a 650MHz frequency, which is dentical to the current flagship X1900 XTX. The graphics memory is on the other hand considerably faster, 1550MHz with X1900XTX has been incerased with 2000MHz for X1950XTX with its GDDR4 technology.

This tends for some interesting performance gains with games which use the graphics memory a lot, which are quite a few. At the same time ATI’s partners may very well launch X1950XTX cards with even higher frequencies. The card will cost $399 when it arrives at the end of August.

Very interesting is the information about Radeon X1950 Pro that comes with a circuit code-named RV570. X1950 Pro is the replacement for Radeon X1900 GT and uses 12 pixel piplenes and 36 pixel processors. The core works at 600MHz while the graphics memory works at 1.4GHz with GDDR3 technology. Separating it from its bigger brother X1950 Pro is uses a single-slot cooling and this is made possible through the more power efficient 80nm manufacturing process ATI now introduces. What is also worth mentioning with RV570/X1950 Pro is that it will be the first Radeon card with an integrated Composite CrossFire Engine. In other words you won’t need a Crossfire card for a Crossfire configuration. Radeon X1950 Pro is expected to appear in stores during the middle of October and then costing between $199 and $249.
