Radeon X1800 XT Crossfire seems to be getting closer to an official launch and now a number of performance tests has appeared over at the Chinese hardware site HKEPC. They have compared ATI’s best Crossfire system against NVIDIAs GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB SLI, which is according to their individual prices the most suitable comparison. NVIDIA still has the flagship 7800 GTX 512MB to lean back on when it comes to pure performance, but Radeon X1800XT Crossfire seems to perform very well and in 22 of the 24 tests ATI’s Crossfire system performs better than NVIDIA’s SLI setup. Interestingly they have simulated a Crossfire system with Radeon X1800 XT OC cards as well with higher frequencies, but this only resulted in some neglible improvements.
