Radeon HD 2900 Pro appeared in the news a while back as ATI had managed to squeeze in the name of the card and its chip in a set of beta drivers. Radeon HD 2900 Pro is based on the already existing R600 architecture, but according to VR-Zone the number of stream processors have been cut in half to 160, or not. The first report has been updated saying that the 2900 pro might have 320 SP after all. The core clock will be reduced to 600MHz, and the card should be available in stores quite soon, September/October if were to believe VR-Zone’s sources. The card will cost somewhere around $249 and score approximately up to 9,000 points in 3DMark 06. This might actually be the first decent performing mid-range card of the new generation to hit the market.
