Reports regarding the so called R680 have been appearing here and there on the web. No one is completely certain what this ”chip” is suppose to be, but the most frequently occurring guess is that R680 is not the name of an actual GPU, but a card sporting two RV670 circuits side by side on one PCB. The codename has appeared on a number of leaked slides by now, but we’re still not certain when the chip is suppose to arrive. From what we’ve heard, the development of the two-chip card is coming along nicely, and an optimistic source says that the card could even be launched before the end of the year. Even though the source was optimistic about it, we’re certainly not promising anything.
