Clovertown is together with Kentsfield the first quad-core processor to appear in Intel’s assortment. Kentsfield is intended for the retail market and will be a part of the Core 2 Extreme family. Clovertown is the server market’s equivalent and will be known by the Xeon-name which through its four cores will mean a lot to this market. Intel will launch these processor soon, but already it seems the first PR stunts are starting to appear. Over at Bit-tech they’ve namely published a guide where they tell you how they’ve assembled a dedicated gaming server. The interesting is that the server was built together with Intel and that they use the next generation of processors.

Even if they don’t say it right out loud, because of the processor’s inofficial status, it seems they’ve built a dual-CPU server with two Clovertown Xeon processors. That this server is now available and can be used to play make sit even more entertaining.
