Planex BLW-HPMM-G is a wireless broadband router with an ace up its sleeve; the router namely supports the BitTorrent protocol for downloading to an external harddrive, without using a computer. You connect an external harddrive through the USB2.0 port, or perhaps a USB memory, and then download torrents using the integrated BitTorrent client. All of the data that is stored on the external storage device can then be shared throughout the network, both the wired 100Mbit Ethernet and wireless 802.11g network. Even if the router doesn’t support the coming 802.11n protocol, it does support both MIMO and XR (Extended Range), which both improve the wireless network and add a range off up to 600m. The transfer rate is considerably lower but then the range is in a class of its own.
Planex BLW-HPMM-G is available today and costs about $150.
