Piracy is a hot topic in most countries, but compared to many Asian countries the problems in Europe and North America are pretty much nothing. We have at several occasions reported about the piracy going on in Asia and its enormous spread. Now another proof of the ”culture differences” has appeared. Reports from Shanghai tells us that The DaVinci Code appeared on the piracy market just hours before it had its debut at the Cannes film festival. The copies sold on the streets of Shanghai cost less than a dollar but are supposedly of poor quality. When a salesman was confronted regarding the quality of the movie the ”sales assistant” said that better copies are on the way and will most likely arrive early next month.

They seem to take their job very seriously and just the fact they’re using titles such as ”sales assistant” and similar makes one wonder exactly how big of an industry this is.
