Intel’s Ultrabook concept so far only has one member, ASUS UX21, and there have been great doubts among various analysts and partners if it will be possible to deliver these computers at below $999. The first pictures of Acer’s version, Aspire 3951 has surfaced with a price lower than expected.

There was talk about Acer becoming the second player to release an Ultrabook, after ASUS, and the latest information makes this very likely. Acer Aspire 3951 will be its first Ultrabook that just like ASUS UX21 will follow the criteria Intel has set up for the Ultrabook.

The specifications for the company are still vague, but we do know that it will have a Core i3/i5/i7 processor with 17W TDP from Intel, SSD up to 160 GB, Bluetooth 4.0 and battery time at ”over 6 hours”. The computer will sprot a 13.3″ screen only 13 mm in profile and weight below 1.4 kg. The resolution of the screen is still uncertain, but most likely we are dealing with 1366×768. It looks like the majority of ouputs have been moved to the back due to the thin design.

Acer Aspire 3951 will also sport an aluminum chassis and will not be one of the models that may use fiber glass instead of metal. The computer will according to the source cost between $770 to $960 depending on configuration. No matter the problem partners have been fearing to make ends meet, Acer seems to have been able to solve them.
