PhysX on GeForce was unlocked with the 177.39 GeForce driver, but it was only available with a few selected cards. Although, that didn’t stop modders from editing the drivers and adding support for other graphics cards based on the same or a very similar GPU as the ones already enabled. The edited inf-files circulated at various forums, but soon there will be no need for them as NVIDIA will unveil the first non-beta PhysX driver in just a week.

It’s been said that on August 5th NVIDIA will release the first WHQL certified PhysX driver that will also expand the number of graphics cards and games supported. Tests have shown a small drop in performance when running PhysX on a single card, but the increased physics complexity may very well be worth it. For the benchers, remember that physics on GeForce will not be allowed in the ORB Hall of Fame. This is not a part of the previously mentioned next big bang.
