Optimus Popularis is the second generation OLED keyboard from Russian design studio Art Lebedev. The keyboard will be smaller than Optimus Maximus, but sport greater resolution on the key displays and a long information display.

Optimus Popularis is said to launch by the end of the year, and Art Lebedev has released a rendering of what the keyboard will look like when it starts to ship.

They threw out the dedicated numpad and chosen a smaller formfaktor with Optimus Popularis. Each key measures 15x15mm, which is noticeably smaller than the 20x20mm keys of Optimus Maximus. The mini-displays are larger though and with greater resolution; 64×64 pixels versus 48×48 pixels.

We also have a long information display between the F keys and the number keys where you can monitor generic information about your system.

What hasn’t changed is the price tag. Art Lebedev doesn’t reveal anything but that the keyboard will cost less than 1,000 USD.
