Intel’s first processor-series with dual cores is called Pentium D. Intel was able to beat AMD with the launch of a dual-core processor but as many has speculated it was not easy nor very well thought through. According to an Intel-engineer who spoke at Hot Chips conference yesterday they went for an early launch and everything else had to be prioritized down. Many has been complaining over about the fact that Intel more or less just threw two separate processor on to one circuit, but this was not even a solution Intel was especially satisfied with, but the lack of time left it with no other choice. In short, the next generation of dual-core processors from Intel will be considerably more efficient.
