AMD is about to start and distribute the new 2.6GHz Opteron to larger OEMs and at the moment it will not be available to regular people as it requires better cooling and power distribution than today’s regular mainboards and cases offers. These will have a maximum power consumption 25W above the current high end 2.4GHz, which can be bought by regular people though. However already next year the new 2.8Ghz will arrive and with it a new 2.6GHz at ”only” 95W, same as the current 2.4GHz.
