Small preview imageGeForce 7900GTX is expected to be presented at CeBIT March 8-9 and NVIDIA has according to the latest information already started to empty it stock of GeForce 7800 based cards to make room for the 7900 series. Recently we published a news article about GeForce 7900GTX and its rumoured specifications. Back then the focused on the number of pixel pipelines and pondered on whether we should expect a 24 pipe card, as GeForce 7800 GTX, or if NVIDIA would go big and use 32 pixel piplines with 7900GTX. DailyTech  has come across documentation that is suppose to be from NVIDIA that tells us of 7900GTX detailed specifications; revealing a 24 pipe architecture.

The specifications found in the documents states the following:

  • PCIe native

  • 655MHz core frequency

  • 256-bit memory interface

  • 52GB/sec. memory bandwidth

  • 15B pixels/sec. fill rate

  • 1450M vertices/sec.

  • 24 pixels per cycle

  • Built in twin dual-link DVI support for twin 2560×1600 resolution displays

  • Whether these specifications really are from NVIDIA is hard to say, but it is pretty clear that 7900GTX and X1900XTX will be entering a really tough and even fight, but NVIDIA has a trump: it is namely planning on launching a single slot version of GeForce 7900 at the end of March, specially designed for Quad SLI.
