Lenovo continues to launch new mobile workstations in small formats. The latest is ThinkPad X220 sporting Intel’s new Huron River platform and Sandy Bridge processors offering both performance and mobility. The computer can also be equipped with 12.5″ LED IPS panel and up to 8GB RAM and 160GB SSDs.

Lenovo ThinkPad X220 has an usual screen size with its 12.5″. Beside the stock model with 1366 x 768 pixels resolution there is an optional Premium HD panel. Despite the name the resolution is the same, but with IPS panel you will get better image quality and viewing angles.

The processor alternatives are in the Intel’s Core i3/i5/i7 series where the top model is a Core i7-2620M CPU at 2.7 GHz. Up to 8GB RAM and paired with Intel’s integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU and can be completed with support for USB 3.0. Another good feature is 720p web camera, 54mm ExpressCard slot, SD card reader, DVD burner, 802.11n WiFi, DisplayPort output and harddrive up to 320GB or SSD up to 160GB. Among the operative system choices we have Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium and Professional.

Lenovo ThinkPad X220 measures 305.0mm x 206.5mm x 19-34.6mm and weighs 1.3 kg. Other upgrades include 45% larger trackpad without buttons. Battery time has been improved and is specified to 15 hours with the stock 9 cell battery and up to 23 hours with an external extra battery.
