Nintendo has just ended its press conference for its next generation video game console Wii hours before E3 starts. Alas, it chose not to reveal any price nor specific launch date, it only specified the fourth quarter this year and we didn’t get any more detailed hardware specifications either. What we did get to see was a whole row of games and information about other games that are currently under development for the upcoming console. 27 games will be playable at E3, all new. You who followed the event via one of all of the live feeds available also a got a pretty nice view of how the controller is suppose to work and you who missed it can keep an eye out at GameSpot as they will make it available for download later on.

It wasn’t easy trying to get a good overview of how the console performs graphicaly from a relatively low-resolution stream, but there seemed to be quite a lot of details and nice physics effects at least.

Some of the more expected titles that were displayed includes Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Hyper Sonic, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, etc. The first will be available day one together with many more.

Nintendo also displayed three entirely new games specially designed for the new console, where Disaster was the game that impressed your’s truly the most, just wish they would’ve shown more of it. Simply about catastrohpes of various kinds. The other two were Project H.A.M.M.E.R., where you run around and hitting things with a huge hammer or more precise sledge, and Excite Truck, a sequel to the classic Excite Bike where the environment react with real-time physics.

It seems that physics has been granted some room in Nintendo’s console, which was shown pretty well by Ubisoft’s presentation of Redsteel where you could run around and break stuff all over the place. Sadly we did not get any further specifications regarding the hardware so these are just speculations on my behalf.
