X-Bit Labs reports that Tul Corporation (PowerColor) and Sapphire Technologies has plans on releasing a 9800XT with only 128MB instead of the existing 256MB. Since today’s games and software rarely needs more than 128MB the performance won’t be affected in any serious way. The price on the other hand will be affected in a positive way, since cards with 128MB are cheaper to manufacture.
PowerColor and Sapphire has also told X-Bit Labs that they have plans on releasing 128MB-versions of ATI’s coming graphics card series Radeon X800. ATI’s new Radeon X800-series will according to rumors be just around the corner, there has been talking about two dates 26 April and 31 May. nVidia’s new Geforce-card isn’t far off either …
