Apple launched the new MacBook models a while back. Much of the work had been put into reworking the design and the manufacturing process. There are more news though, like the updated hardware and there are most likely more than a few Apple followers trying to find the cash to update their arsenal. A couple of reviews have surfaced and over at Ars Technica they have posted two separate articles that dissect the MacBook design and eventually the performance as well.

Apple has managed to slim down the MacBook Pro even further and at the same time managed to clean up the design a bit. The changes that can be found under the hood may not be that many, but they instead carry great significance. Apple has jumped over to the green side with NVIDIA to supply its new MacBooks with better graphics performance and as revealed by Ars Technica’s benchmarks it does bring a substantial improvement for all Mac users who are also interested in 3D gaming.

Apple seems to have done an overall good job with the updated MacBook series, though there are some drawbacks. Among others the glossy display that is anything but impressive in bright environments. The battery time has also taken a hit with the newfound power of NVIDIA’s chips.

There is more over at Ars Technica where they have both articles posted; walkthrough of the design (Part I), and the conclusion and benchmarks (Part II).
