The NV40 is about to be launched as many of you might know. NV40 is the sequel to GeForce FX 5950 Ultra.

But before that we will see four new cards. One of them has already been mentioned: GeForce MX 4000. This is a lowperformance version of GeForce 4 MX that has been delayed a couple of months but has now found its way out on the market.

There are three other we have recently heard about and those are GeForce FX 5500, 5700LE and 5700VE. We have had some info on 5500 and 5700LE for about a week but 5700VE is completely new to us.

What we have heard about FX 5500 is that it is based on GeForce FX 5200. The frequencies are 250/400, same as 5700LE. 5700LE is built on 5700 (NV36) but has lower frequencies and probably just a 64 bits memory controller.

No performance monsters mildly expressed.

More information about GeForce FX 5500 can be found here. here you can also find performance graphs but keep in mind that these are from the manufacturer (nVidia).

More information about GeForce FX 5700LE can be found here.

As I said we knew nothing about 5700VE. Its existence was revealed when they turned out as a part of nVidia’s  latest betadrivers. Download  ForceWare 2.0 (Detonator) 56.55 here.
The file is 11.1 MB and only for Windows 2000/XP. Install by doubleclicking the file.
