Rumors are going around that Ipad 3 will sport a high resolution screen, and to make sure it won’t be left behind Acer decided to do something similar. Also ASUS is reported to be working on an updated version of the already launched Transformer Prime, with a better screen.

Apple iPad 3 has been delayed due to lack of 9.7″ screens with high en ough resolutions. This has allowed several competing companies to ram themselves and plan their own high resolution products.

Acer and also ASUS will be the first to bring Premium tablets to counter Apple. ASUS will use its already launched Transformer Prime TF201 sporting the NVIDIA Tegra 3 SoC and update it with a better screen. The new tablet Transformer Prime TF700 will sport a 10″ IPS screen with 1920 x 1200 px resolution, which will improve it considerably over the regular TF201, according to those who has tested it.

Besides the screen it has removed a bit of aluminum at the top of the case and replaced it with plastic, to remedy the GPS problems with Transformer Prime. It has removed GPS from the specifications and instead offer it as a bonus because of this. The revised case will also improve WiFi and Bluetooth reception. The camera on the front has been upgraded from 1.2 megapixel, to 2 megapixel to offer video calls at 1080p.

ASUS Transformer Prime TF700 is expected to appear in Q2 and will cost 100 dollar more than Transformer Prime TF201. TF700 will be a complement to ASUS already exicisting TF201, which will boost the price.
