A couple of reports have surfaced that points to that some of Sony Pictures’ new DVD releases doesn’t work with all DVD players since the copy protection is in the way. The first reply from Sony was that it was up to the DVD player manufacturers to update the hardware with support for the new copy protection, but now Sony has backed down and says that it will replace the problematic movies. The copy protection that has been causing all of this is called ARccOS and it is updated more or less constantly, which is the reason for compatibility issues. Ironically it seems that some of the DVD players that refuse to play the movies are a part of Sony’s assortment. The problem seems to be located mainly in the USA and if anyone of you has run into problems when trying to watch you new Sony Picture release you should contact Sony for a new one.
