We gave you a first hint of the performance of X38 yesterday, and today we have another for you. Kinc has paired the ASUS P5E3 Deluxe with a ”new” Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 to see what the new Intel chipset can do with a quad-core. Using a Thermalright 120 with a Delta 120 mm fan, the processor was fairly easily pushed to 4333 MHz (481.4 x 9). With a 2:1 memory divider this resulted in a memory frequency of 963 MHz. At this clock frequency the board was stable enough to complete a 1M bench of SuperPi 1.5 in 11.578 seconds. To complete a round of 3DMark 06 CPU benchmarks the frequency had to be lowered to 4145 MHz (460.6 x 9), but this was enough to score 6180 points.
