The Windows XP lifespan was earlier extended from January to June, but that’s suppose to it for XP. OEMs will stop shipping computers with the aging operating system, but during this time there have come up some things that may change Microsoft’s mind on the termination of Windows XP. Led by ASUS Eee PC and Intel’s Atom platform, a bunch a new, low-end systems are flooding the market. Vista just isn’t fit to run on these systems, but XP is.

According to cnet blogger Ina Fried, this has forced Microsoft to reconsider. Although, this mainly applies to emerging markets and developing countries, which mean that the west will still be phased into Vista, not matter if we like or not. Microsoft earlier announces that XP Starter Kits will be available until 2010 on emerging markets, but according to Fried, it’s the full version which will be kept in play to compete with Linux.
